This week I received some cooked sausages from a scout bbq I worked on for free and made curry sausages for tea. Started to declutter my house one bag or box at a time. Took my lunches to work with me. Grateful one of my chooks (chickens) is back laying. Picked up a couple of Samaritan purse boxes which my girls will fill as part of their Christmas charity gifts this year. I am having to re evaluate our finances as we are transferring Caitlin my eldest to a private Catholic school next year for her Year 11 as the public school is not offering the subjects that she wishes to study and they have after school study hall. I am lucky that Caitlin's boss's daughter is finishing at the same school and I will be getting all of her uniforms very cheap.
Having a truly prosperous week Abundant Lifers. janinebenson1964@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04353965152068543844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122163157306498894.post-78627227505319344602016-09-11T19:32:18.554+10:002016-09-11T19:32:18.554+10:00Good week again Wendy. God bless you Maxine and your husband for taking on the pup with problems and giving him a chance, and for all the other rescues/strays you have taken in and looked after and loved. I am making lemon loaf today for family afternoon tea and to freeze for school morning tea during week. I'm also going to try a gluten free "bread" using a new recipe. I am hoping it doesn't end up like all my other bread making attempts! My best saving this week was on chicken legs where I got a good deal for buying 2kg. I cooked up half and froze the other half. I shopped specials at Coles and was very happy to see Macadamia Nut oil (which I use in my banana breads) was on sale. Some...Hi, it's Maxine from northern Idaho, USA. Some of the things I did this week:

(1) I have become more mindful about recycling. I remembered to take my own bags to the grocery store.

(2) And speaking of groceries, I bought about 15 lbs. of boneless pork loin for $1.88 lb. I am cutting some of it into chops. It didn't save me anything this week, but it sure will this winter.

(3) Recycled plastic bags for freezing.

(4) Poured the contents of several bottles of cleaning supplies together and recycled the bottles. I saved two small pump bottles to re-use, but I'm not sure what to do with them. Any ideas?

(5) Gratefully received a food processor from one of my pinochle partners. I have never owned one before.

(6) Passed on the following: lots of pears and apples from my trees and perennial plants. What goes around comes around.

(7) We desperately wanted a West Highland white terrier (we already have one, who was a rescue). We got one for an exceptionally low price because he was the runt. However, we discovered he has congenital knee issues. My husband said, "What the heck, we don't have grandchildren--we'll see this little guy through." This is NOT going to be frugal! However, this little guy has heart--he deserves a chance. I asked for and received a full refund from the breeder. Of the dogs we have owned over the last 44 years, three have been giveaways and two (including the other Westie) were actual rescues. So, we are still batting 1,000 on free dogs.mikemaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06569666073239903588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7122163157306498894.post-46802228898908724982016-09-11T01:19:09.532+10:002016-09-11T01:19:09.532+10:00Hi from the UK
