Thanks Wendy. I always check your list to see if I've missed anything. :-)
ReplyDeleteWoolies also have macro Free range whole fresh chickens, $3.99 kg, save $3 kg. this is a really good price for free range.
You are right about the staples Wendy - a rarity to see on special. Will certainly be taking your advice on this with the tea.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy, i saw these teabags in the reject shop in Wonthaggi today for $2 a box :)
ReplyDeleteI saw the ad of tv for them. My only concern is that they might be parellel imports. If so, they might taste a little different. Just like cheaper Nescafe does.
DeleteHi Wendy, they are parallel imports, I saw them today at the reject shop
DeleteHi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting these specials, great to see the Lipton tea bags on special, will be stocking up.
The Imported smoked cod seafood, have you bought this? I haven't and wouldn't know how do you cook it?
Maureen
For years it was the only fish we could afford. Haven't bought it for about a year or two. I defrost it in the fridge then boil it in a saucepan for 10 minutes and serve with a little butter.
DeleteThankyou Wendy. These posts are so helpful in planning the menu and shopping list. I really appreciate them. Mimi xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy, I stocked up on tea bags and also bought a number of the Coles specials. I've only really just started to stockpile the specials and was pleasantly surprised how low the total was when I got to the checkout.
ReplyDeleteOne question - how do you calculate how much you'll need for things like choc bits when they come on special? Or do you just buy as many as you have room for?
Thanks again,
Jo
It's a combination of a few things. How much money I can spare from the slush fund, how long the best before is, how much I would use within the time frame and how good the deal is. I can always find room for a 1/2 price special.
DeleteFor example - choc bits I always have on hand 12 packets of white and milk. I've never run out unless it hasn't been on sale for a long time.
Tins of soup I work out how often I make the casserole ( generally monthly ). So I'd need twelve as it usually only comes on sale in Winter. Then I add a few extra in case the sale is a little later than normal.
Hi Wendy,
DeleteThis is a great way of working things out, i never thought of it this way. I had just been buying 'X' amount and hoping they would last till the next special. I will be trying to do this from now on.
Thanks,
Maureen
Sorry , I forgot to add,
DeleteTasman Meats have a special this weekend only. If you receive emails from them, if you spend $75.00 you get $15.00 off, but you must print off the email and take it with you.
Maureen
Great strategy, thanks Wendy!
