Jessica's favourite homemade dessert is apple crumble. She could happily eat it at least once a week. She's been known to eat leftovers for breakfast the next day. When you think about it, it does make a healthy breakfast too. Having this bulk mix on hand in the pantry helps to get a quick dessert in the oven.
1 cup of plain flour
2 cups of rolled oats
1/3 cup of brown sugar ( MOO )
1 teaspoon of cinnamon ( approx ).
Mix all ingredients well and store in an air tight container.
To serve use 3/4 cup of mix and add two
tablespoons of melted butter to a bowl.
Mix well and pour over cooked apple, or any tinned / stewed fruit and bake in the oven as per your recipe
This dry mix recipe can be doubled or tripled to suit the container size you'll store it in.

Oh this is great because I have a bag of apples at home that need to be used up and was going to make a crumble mixture but never got around to finding one. Thanks heaps wendy! Will have to give it a go once out of hospital :D
ReplyDeleteHow simple and having it on hand ready to use spells convenience ... and who doesn't love convenience!
ReplyDeleteWendy, I love these simple recipes that turn ordinary into lavish. There's nothing better than a crumble and home made custard on these Wintry evenings. Yum! Mimi xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy
ReplyDeleteThis would have to be one of my all time favourite desserts, especially in the winter. Thank you for sharing the recipe. Think I may go an make this for dessert tonight as a treat for DD5 who went back to school today. Yes it is cold outside and this will warm us all up.
YUM
Regards
Aly
We love a good crumble in this house too. I like the idea of pre preparing the ingredients before hand then they are ready to grab and just add the butter. Brilliant, thank you Wendy.

I should have followed this recipe yesterday. Ever since coming back from holidays my 'cooking' has been off....so much so that Hubby went into the garage and pulled out the box with all my recipe books in it and deposited it right in front of me lol..... sad but true lol....He is such a sweety though he has been eating the horrible meals I have been making and saying "lovely dear we could do with more of that" that was until the books were located lol...
ReplyDeleteTick! one container of crumble mix made.....brilliant Wendy - thankyou! Robyn QLD
