I Just Have To Say.....

There are a few things I need to share with you.  I hope you'll pray for us and understand there are some things we cannot go into detail about.

Recently my blog has been flooded with spam comments mostly from overseas.  Generally their poorly worded comment is a giveaway and I delete them immediately.  They usually comment on very old posts from 2014.  The Soap Making post seems to be their latest target.

To avoid your comment accidentally being mistaken for a spammer,  please leave your name at the end of your comment. I don't need your whole name,  just your first name will be fine thankyou  If there is no name,  I will not be publishing the comment.  These spammers like to put links in their comment to obscure or rude websites.  This is not something I'd like anyone else to see.

Occasionally there is a very rude commenter who does the rounds of different blogs. These comments are never published by myself or my blogger friends.  Infact,  I don't bother to read them anymore.  Please uphold blog writers in prayer.  At times we are judged, and attacked for no reason at all.

A few readers have recently asked personal questions publicly about our family.  Generally I try to share what I can,  but I would prefer people to private message me on Facebook.  Some things are better left unsaid.  For those who were wondering,  Megan moved out earlier this year.  She lives about 20 minutes away and continues to live quite frugally.  She loves to tell me about the grocery bargains she finds, how she tracks her energy usage on a phone app and her latest bargain find at Savers.  Darren and I are very proud of her frugal efforts.

I will continue to write this blog for as long as I have something useful to share and for as long as people are being inspired.  Every tip,  recipe or craft I put on this page I personally use in my home.  All recipes are my own inventions unless otherwise stated.  I'm more than happy for you to share my tips and recipes so that others can live an amazing life too.  I only ask if you share it on your blog or in a Facebook group that you put my name and a link to my blog.

.*   A few readers have asked for more recipes.   It's lovely that you want more,  but I don't have a truckload of recipes to share.   Each year I try to add two or three new main meal recipes to my repertoire   We are simple eaters who enjoy budget yet tasty meals.   I don't make anything up or copy and paste from other websites just to keep my blog going.  If I find a recipe I like,  I always change it to suit our budget and tastes.

Jessica continues to plan for her wedding later in the year.  She's more than happy for me to share how we've saved money along the way. I will be blogging about this next year.   It will not be a super budget wedding.  There are just some things we don't want to go cheap on.   I will say that we have found some great bargains along the way,  Savers continues to be a great source of budget friendly household items.   Friends have offered their services at discounted prices or for free as their wedding gift.  We are very blessed.

I try to read each person's comment.  I'm very grateful  that you take the time to comment and share your own experiences and tips.  There are some weeks where time is limited due to my work.  If I can't answer your question  I'm so sorry.  We are a wonderful community here and I'm more than happy for others to help with their own advice.

2018 has had its ups and downs.  We have a family member going through chemo at the moment.  If I seem distracted or don't reply to every comment,  you'll know why.  This family member would appreciate your prayers.  The prognosis is very good but their  journey has been tough.

I'm hoping to get more stock into my blog shop very shortly.  Please feel free to have a look at the current stock.  I'm happy to take orders if you'd like something in a different color.   I also custom make cards if you'd like something specific.  Please private message me on Facebook if you'd like to combine a few items.  Sometimes I can help you save on postage    Feel free to ask.

Thankyou for your continued support.

  1. Oh, Wendy! It’s hard to imagine that there are people out there who feel the need to spam or be critical! I hope that when I’ve added a link (usually to Pinterest) that it hasn’t been a worry for you! My links are to photos or recipes of something I had just mentioned as one of my frugal positives!

In this day and age, one needs to be careful about adding too many personal details because of “trolls” (I think that’s what they’re called) who can be rude or even creepy! Technology gives us the best of times and worst of times by it’s very ability to connect us all!
I hope that you continue to blog! Your posts are sources of motivation and inspiration and I really have appreciated them!

I do not have a blog, but I share in your frustration, as well as other bloggers, when they start getting hit with so much spam etc. I hope you will continue to blog and ignore all the jerks that are out there. 4. Dear Wendy, I think it's sad that you even had to write this post. This is YOUR blog and you should feel free to share, not share, add to or subtract from as you wish. Like you, I share a little about my family, but only to the extent with which I am comfortable. I don't think anyone should feel compelled to share intimate details of meaningful family celebrations...unless they want to. It's all a bit weird if you ask me. I wouldn't DREAM of telling another blogger what to write or be bold enough to ask for updates on personal life events. As for responding to comments, well we all do what we can do. It's a two way street and you're engaging us by writing a lovely post, to which WE respond. I don't believe it's then necessary for you to respond to US, unless you are able. You've contributed your part to the conversation if you know what I mean. From time to time I get asked to do more of this or that, and in the end, I'm like you. I can only write about what is happening in my life at the time. Your blog is a constant source of inspiration to many, and anyone expecting otherwise, or more, or less, is perhaps reading the wrong blog. Keep up the great work. Love, Mimi xxx

  20. Hi Wendy and I am sorry to hear you have been getting spammed and sent rude content but unfortunately there are some very sick people in the world. I am glad you take the move of not reading it at all and deleting it.

I would like to say here that your money saving tips and frugal lifestyle are inspiring to me and I appreciate all the time and effort you put into giving us your tips and hints.

You are wise to limit the content and information you wish to share or not share about your family for safety reasons and others.

Keep doing the wonderful job you are doing and ignore the naysayers, nosy and rude people and remember there are a lot of good people who appreciate you.

  21. I don’t often comment but agree with everything you ask. The nasty comments are getting out of hand and I cannot for the life of me understand what satisfaction is achieved from doing this. Thank you for the very full update and I will look forward very much to reading about the wedding. We did lots of handmade things for my daughter’s 16 years ago and enjoyed it very much. MIZPAH

  28. Wendy, so sorry to hear that you are being subjected to anything not nice. You have a kind and giving spirit and just don't need the hassle in your life. Especially where children are concerned, privacy is at the forefront. Please don't go away because of a few "strange" people who know not of what they speak, and don't generally care. Norma

  29. Hi Wendy

I was a little shocked to read what you have been subjected to. You are providing a wonderful service for your followers. If people don't like it then they should just leave. You are a person with feelings. I don't think that you or your family deserve to be questioned about your privacy. You have a right to remain partially anonymous like the rest of us.

I do hope that all goes well with your family member and you are all in my thoughts.

Megan moving out would have been a joyous but bittersweet time in your life but she has my best wishes for making a wonderful life for herself.

Friends offering services for Jessica's wedding sounds like a lovely idea, sometimes this is more of a help than ending up with presents you do not need. Best of luck with the planning and enjoy this time with your precious daughter.

I enjoy the service that you provide and will continue to enjoy as long as you continue to post

    Take Care

    Aly xx
