Abundant Cottage Adventures Thursday 30th April 2020

Here's what we've been up to in our home -

*  I did some grocery shopping.  It's good to see most items are back on the shelves.  Toilet paper is still in short supply and what's available is quite expensive.  Thankfully we have enough for the next few months.

*  I picked up two packets of rump steak on clearance for just over $7 a kilo.  This will be divided up into meal sizes and frozen for future cooking of Massaman beef curry and other casseroles.

*  Refilled the shampoo and conditioner bottles and diluted them by 1/3

*  Refilled the foaming hand wash pumps around the house with diluted shower gel.

*  Tuna pasta bake was on the dinner menu.

How did you spend your Thursday during lock down ?

  1. I have been very quiet today. Miss Two has coughed and spluttered all over me. Tomorrow I am going to go for a test because I will need antibiotics by then as I am showing all the familiar signs of ear infections, throat infection and lung infection. Such a downer post. I will be early in bed tonight and enjoy sleeping in the cooler temperatures.

  2. All looking good. Flour, yeast and baking powder amongst other baking items, are still hard to get here in the UK. Do you have a recipe for your Massaman beef curry please? Sounds lovely.

  3. Hi Wendy,
Your tuna bake looks tasty. I went grocery shopping today and found antibacterial liquid soap back on the shelves. Although we use normal diluted liquid soap, I like antibacterial if one of us gets a bug. It's nice to see toilet paper coming back too. I usually buy the Aldi double length. I've had a months supply stocked for years and was lucky I could rely on it when it disappeared of the shelves.
It was our 21st Wedding Anniversay yesterday. We celebrated with Thai take away, as a treat.
    Thanks for sharing.

  4. Hi Wendy, last week I was able to buy toilet paper from the IGA in our rural town for the first time in five weeks. It was $1 a roll and we were able to buy four rolls. But at least it was there. I haven't seen toilet paper in our local Woolies in about 7 weeks or so. I know it has been in Woolies during that time but never when I was there. I had to go into one of the regional centres on Thursday this week and was finally able to purchase some at less than 50 cents a roll. It came in a larger pack than I would usually buy when shopping, but at this point I am not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
