Over the last couple of weeks I've spent some time decluttering bits and pieces from around our home. As soon as I get a decent sized bag full of thing I donate them to my local Savers Thrift store. Each time I make one of these donations I receive a 20% off voucher for my next purchase. These vouchers are saved until I have a few items to purchase to make the most of the voucher.
Here's what else I've been up to -
* Fed the compost bin every few days with kitchen scraps.
* Baked a double batch of choc chip biscuits for our snacks. For the first time ever I froze most of the baked biscuits for future occasions.
* Gratefully received milk, bread, bread bags and bread crusts from a few different sources.
* Dried all the washing on the line or clothes horses outside.
* Gratefully received 3 x large Moccona coffee jars from a lady on Facebook. I've already found uses for them in my pantry.
* Made 5 1/2 jars of pear and apple butter. The pears came from our tree.
* Baked 12 rolls using the wholemeal bread with extra goodness recipe. The rolls are for Darren's lunches to take to work.
* Sold an item on Facebook Marketplace.
* Baked 3 loaves of wholemeal bread with extra goodness.
* Made a bottle of surface spray with kitchen detergent and cooled boiled water.
* Picked pears, raspberries, beans, blackberries and tomatoes from our garden.
* Cooked homemade pizzas for dinner one night including making the bases.
* Saved the shower warm up water and washing machine rinse water and reused it around our home and garden.
* Used the solar lanterns at night time instead of using a lamp.
* Made egg custard using excess milk.

How did you save time, money or energy this week ?
Lovely that you are getting fresh produce from your garden, Wendy.
ReplyDeleteI used garlic chives, spring onion and spinach from my garden to make a sweet potato impossible pie this week. It was delicious and we had leftovers for lunch with salad.

Good morning Wendy, home cooking all week here, eating out the freezer.Only needed a small fruit and bread shop. Two bags donated to the op shop, oops did buy a gorgeous vintage hand knitted jumper,in great condition for winter, but may save the heating bill a bit! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Wendy.
ReplyDeleteThose pears look great. Must be very rewarding to eat your own produce. We have had a good week. I’m working longer hours so I’ve been prepping meals on Sundays. So much easier to get dinner on the table when I get home at 6pm. All meals were made from scratch. I had Friday off so I made pizzas from scratch ( your recipe). I double the recipe to make 4 pizzas. It feeds 5 adults with leftovers for lunches or to take to work over the weekend. It works out to be a very frugal meal.
Have a lovely week.
Rachel :)
I sometimes have quite a bit of milk that has started to turn and doesn't have a good flavor anymore. If you have suggestions on how to use it up that might make a good post sometime.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Carole but I don't have any suggestions for turned milk. Perhaps freeze some before it turns or make custard.
DeleteI live in the United States and I am just itching to get our gardens going. Unfortunately the snow is coming and going, but we are pruning the fruit trees and cleaning out the berry bushes so they are ready.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been decluttering too and enjoying it. have 4 bags in boot to be dropped at the op shop.
ReplyDeleteDefrosted my deep freeze and reorganised, wrote down what was in it so know what we have for meal planning.
Did a huge aldi shop and am well stocked now for weeks.
Made a cake with peaches out of my freezer.
Took lots of cuttings in the garden.
Looking forward to the weather cooling down so I can get stuck into the veggie patch.
Have a good week Wendy

Hi Amanda. Are you keeping a tally of how many items you are decluttering ?
