Abundant Cottage Adventures Saturday 4th April 2020

The weather has turned cold and wet here in Melbourne.  We've concentrated on inside jobs to keep us busy.

*  Baked four loaves of wholemeal bread with extra goodness.

*  Made dried bread crumbs with saved bread crusts that I'd frozen over the last month or so.  I also made up a batch of seasoned bread crumbs to fill the container.  I love to use these on Krispy Fried Chicken and Salmon Patties.

*  Stripped our bed and did two loads of washing.  Some went into the dryer and the rest went onto clothes horses over ducted heating vents.

*  Honey soy chicken wings and fried rice is on the menu for dinner.

.
The jar is full again

How did you spend your day ?

  1. Saturday saw me do the last of the washing for the week. I cooked and cleaned a little. For fun I crocheted a little on my blanket.

  2. Wendy, I must try your seasoned breadcrumbs. They sound nice.

Today we helped family out by picking up and delivering hay to our daughters farm for her horses. Also popped into our other daughters to drop off some veggies then headed home again. In the afternoon I made 8 pies using up a veggie stew I cooked yesterday and organised meals for hubby to take to work. I have a couple of days home alone now so I will be able to catch up on some housework.

  3. It's rainy and cold here in South Texas also. I have found a box of "things I must mend" so today I have removed and replaced the very frayed satin blanket binding on a vintage blanket I have had for many years. It looks like new! I have also made oven baked bbq chicken, some to have for dinner tonight and some to freeze for later meals. I will be baking molasses cookies later this afternoon. I will put a dozen each in the Easter baskets for my four grandchildren who I will get to see on Easter Sunday for a few hours. I haven't seen them in four months because I was overseas and then self quarantined so I am very excited. I may actually get caught up on unfinished projects that have been put aside for a long time.

    1. That's a great idea for the blankets. They'll get so much more use now.
