Abundant Cottage Adventures Sunday 26th April 2020

Today's post includes what we've been up to over the weekend just  gone.

*  Baked ANZAC biscuits using dough from the freezer.  We really enjoy them with a hot cup of tea.  Luka loves to suck on half a biscuit and was seen crawling around the backyard with biscuit in hand.

*  Baked four loaves of wholemeal bread with extra goodness.

*  Picked a handful of raspberries.

*  Picked about 15 feijoas from under our two trees.

*  Enjoyed our online church service.

*  Picked a bunch of white roses from the big bush growing in the chicken run.

*  Cleaned the shower with diluted kitchen detergent.

How did you spend your weekend ?

  1. I did a lot of gardening, in 10-minute intervals due to my bad back.
We walked in the little wood next to our village and discovered a lovely open spot with wild orchids.
I did 2 loads of laundry, including my thickest winter coat, and linedried them in the sun. The coat is now in the attic for next winter.
I do 50 jumps on the trampoline every day, part of my 'rebuild my lower body muscles' programme (self-devised after I accidentally lost some drops the first time I went on the trampoline!). DDs are 11 and 8, so I should have done my exercises better after childbirth! Beware, ladies! Those muscles are sooo important!
Husband has dug over a small part of a flowerbed, and we have moved the empty rabbit hutch there. It's now used to keep the pigeons away from the white cabbage plants I put there, that I grew from seed. The space in between the cabbage plants is sown with salad seeds. Between the hutch and the fence, I have put peas and mangetouts, also grown from seed. We can't really afford to buy chicken wire/netting (and don't want to go to the DIY store at the moment), so I'm making do, and it's actually quite cute.
There's rain forecast for this week (after 5 or 6 weeks of no rain at all), so I'm trying to get the weeds removed from the flowerbeds, and turn the flowerbeds into veg beds before the rain falls.
We are saving out warm-up water and using it to water the seedlings; the lawn, trees and flowers have to fend for themselves.

  2. Do you share your Anzac biscuit recipe? I have never had them but they look so good.
